The Truth About Women

1957

Directed By

Muriel Box

Synopsis

The Truth About Women, which Muriel called her most personal film, reveals the complex lives of women and the assertion that women can and should be ‘an equal partner in the business of life’.

To help his son-in-law win back his wife, Sir Humphrey Tavistock (Laurence Harvey, Room at the Top) recalls the key romantic relationships from his long life, in an effort to understand the truth about women.

Co-starring a fantastic cast including Julie Harris (I Am A Camera), Eva Gabor, Mai Zetterling (Frieda) and Diane Cilento (Rattle of a Simple Man, The Wicker Man), The Truth About Women is a witty and touching comedy, with striking cinematography from Otto Heller and sumptuous costume design by Cecil Beaton.
